What is a great natural style for someone starting over?
I hate relaxers…and my hair grows faster without them.
I love coming through my natural hair…but i know it is breaking off.
So i’m going to cut it.
what are some styles that would look great natural and short? I am very self conscious about wearing my hair away from my face…so please keep this in mind…thanks!
Oh and i still love weaves so please…braidable lengths.

Well you have to transition first, so I suggest braids, like kink twist (because they look closer to natural hair). Once your hair grows to a workable length you can wear a fro, two strand twist, mohawk (you know with braids on the side) etc.. there are a lot of styles that are hard to describe.
Two stand twist:

Hi! Are you transitioning right now? There are tons of styles to do with short natural hair BUT I want to address first that you are having problems with breakage. If the hair is breaking off at the line between relaxed and natural, I agree it is time to cut it. I just did and I am rocking my TWA. When your hair is short, acessories are your friend to make you feel feminine still. Napptural hair can be highlighted with bows, ribbons, hair bands, bobby pins, hair clips, cowrie shells, head bands, scrunchies, flowers, feathers, beads, hair sticks, jewels, decorative combs, tiaras, rubber bands, scarves, wraps, hats etc.
DETANGLING TECHNIQUE:
1. Soak your hair in shower.
2. Apply a slippery conditioner like Pantene Relaxed and Natural liberally throughout. You can do this before or after shampooing. Don’t be stingy, your hair needs lots of product.
3. Take a section with a wide tooth comb and start at bottom and work your way up to the roots. Do not go from roots to tips as this will cause breakage, tangles, and pain. Take your time, your hair is very fragile which is why it should only be detangled when wet with conditioner. Do this throughout your hair until completely detangled. Do this at least once a week. You can also do this with your fingers.
4. Wash out conditioner, apply leave in conditioner.
5. Put into protective hair style most days. You can leave hair but make sure it has a leave in moisturizer in it.
A protective hairstyle is anything where the hair is constrained and/or ends are covered. Your hair is too prone to tangles and breakage to leave out every day in an afro. Buns, braids, twists, updos, locs, weaves are all examples of protective hairstyles.

HAIRSTYLES:
1. Two-strand twists (put a holding product in hair/styling cream and twist hair in little or big twists. style can hold up to three weeks. can be a permanant hairstyle if you occasionally redo twists and keep from fuzzing)

2. Twist outs (same as twists just let out in the morning.style lasts as long as three days if you sleep in satin cap)
3. Braids. These can be micros to french braids.
4. Cornrows
5. Afro . Assuming your hair can make one. (this one is tricky becuase it needs to look purposeful. you can braid the front and leave the back loose. and add a flower or hair clip)
6. Afro puffs. (Basically pigtails but hair will poof out.)
7. Bantu knots

8. Palm coils/rolls
9. TWA (teeny weeny afro) or BAA (big ass afro)
10. Curly Fro

The variety is endless.
